Errant rivulets coursed down his fingertips as they gently caressed the lower lip of my bill. They were merely cruel temptation as his body pressed close to mine and the viscous crimson stain matted my battered feathers. As our eyes met, his own narrowed in appraisal and a smile slowly played upon his handsome visage, cold as the torrents that poured from the darkening sky. Gentle tracings became a powerful grip on me, pain lancing through my jaw as I struggled. His voice grated harshly upon my mind as he whispered, “I'll make you a star...but you know what you have to do...” and he knew that I did. Surrendering to the seizure of desperation I screamed as the searing white pain lanced through my body. I knew then his will was stronger than my own, and fear gripped my heart as my body betrayed me to blinding white light. His thumb caressed my features, there was almost a sick kind of love as he crooned, “You'll be my Swanna...you'll be their everything. Everything...” The light began to fade as my eyes rolled back in my head. The next thing I can recall was his hand striking me down and the taste of the earth. Tears blinded me as I sought out the man who had promised me my fame...and found him looming over me, shaking with rage. “You're worthless to me like this! You're a worthless DUCKLETT!” The luxury ball he held strained and cracked as he forced it open, ripping the halves in two and throwing them at my battered body. I could only watch as he walked away...
